Spice up your life (kitchen)! In this course you will leave with a completely unique and handmade-by-you kitchen tools set (a colander, lemon juicer, spoon rest and garlic grater plate) and a basic understanding of ceramic hand building if you do not have one already. Your instructor, Damaris Swass, will provide hands-on step-by-step instruction and guidance while creating each tool. Once bisqued you will then underglaze and glaze your pieces for their final firing. While students will be making a functional forms, there are endless opportunities for sculptural embellishment and for creativity to shine with the techniques shown.
As a student you:
Will have your own shelf in the studio to store clay, tools, and projects. The course fee includes unlimited studio clay. (Additional clays can be purchased at the studio if desired.)
Can bring tools or purchase them from the studio for $15 on the first day of class, and should bring aprons and towels if desired.
Will have the option to book additional studio time at a discounted rate ($20 per hour) if you would like.
Please note:
All work must be completed or ready to go into the final glaze kiln by the end of the 3rd week.
The student firing fee is $0.07 per cubic inch which covers the cost of bisque and glaze firing.
We do not provide makeup classes unless discussed prior to the start of class - more info and our refund policy are here if needed.
*Courses are subject to cancellation if there aren’t enough sign ups. This is a rare occurrence and in this case, students would be refunded the course fee.
*Centerpoint classes are for students ages 18 and older.
