Alter Shelf Workshop (one day)

Join us for our Alter Shelf Building workshop! In this one day class, students will create a ceramic wall hanging altar or trinket shelf designed to hold meaningful objects, offerings, keepsakes, or small treasures!

Class will begin with guided brainstorming and sketching to help participants develop a personal concept and design for their piece. Using reclaimed clay students will learn how to use the slab roller and use clay slabs to create unique forms with walls and shelves. Emphasis will be placed on both functionality and personal expression, resulting in a one-of-a-kind sculptural object for the home or sacred space.

At the end of the workshop, students will select a glaze finish for their piece. Work will be bisque fired, glazed by the instructor, and ready for pickup approximately 3–4 weeks after class.

Please note:

• The student firing fee is $0.07 per cubic inch which covers the cost of bisque and glaze firing.

*Courses are subject to cancellation if there aren’t enough sign ups. This is a rare occurrence and in this case, students would be refunded the course fee.

*Centerpoint classes are for students ages 18 and older.Your final pieces will be ready for pickup 1-2 weeks from the last class.
