Workshops & Classes
We are excited to announce that we will be offering two sessions of handbuilding courses starting in Fall 2020!
We also offer small (1–4 person) one-time handbuilding workshops, glazing workshops, wheel lessons, and individual open studio time.
Handbuilding 7-Week Course
Beginner/Intermediate Level
Two session options:
Tuesday Afternoons: 14:00 –17:00 from October 6th – November 17th
Thursday Evenings: 18:30 – 21:30 from October 8th – November 19th
This class welcomes students of all levels and will cover basic handbuilding techniques including pinching, coiling, slab building, applying textures, use of equipment such as a slab roller and extruder, glazing, and fundamentals of the life cycle and process of ceramics. More advanced students are welcome to work and receive guidance on their own personal projects. Classes will be limited to 6 students per session.
Each class includes 4 hours of open studio time per week for students to work on their projects (dates & times TBD).
All students will have their own shelf in the studio to store their clay, tools, and projects. The course fee includes one 25 lb. bag of clay (white or speckled) and house glazes. (Additional clays can be purchased at the studio if desired.)
Students must bring their own tools or purchase them from the studio for $15 (purchase tools here)
The student firing fee is $0.05 per cubic inch
Firing fees cover the cost of bisque and glaze firing
All work must be completed or ready to go into the final glaze kiln by the end of the 7th week.
Students will have the option to book studio time (for an additional fee) if they would like more than the allotted class time /open studio time. Students will have the opportunity to join the studio as a member after the course.
The studio will be sanitized before and after each class. Students will be required to wear a mask at all times in the studio. Temperature checks will be done at the door before each class and when students arrive for open studio. As always, we ask that you don't come to the studio if you aren't feeling well.
*Should CDC, City, or State guidelines/rules for small gatherings change, we are prepared to move the classes to online instruction. Please note that we will not be able to provide refunds for classes.
*Courses are subject to cancellation if not enough students sign up. In this case, students will be refunded the course fee.
